Prof. Dr. Zaher Abdalla graduated with distinction from Cairo University in 1948 with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering. Pursuing advanced studies in the UK, he earned an M.Sc. in Sanitary Engineering from University College, University of London in 1951, and a Ph.D. from Imperial College of Science and Technology in 1955.
Prof. Dr. Zaher Abdalla was a pioneer in sanitary engineering and the first at Cairo University to earn a doctorate in the specialization. He began his academic career in 1955 as a Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University. In 1961, he became an Associate Professor, and by 1966, he was promoted to Professor of Sanitary Engineering, significantly shaping the field's education in Egypt.
Extending his influence internationally, he served as a Visiting Professor at the University of Libya in Tripoli from 1969 to 1974. Prof. Dr. Zaher dedication to teaching and innovation left a lasting legacy, inspiring future generations of engineers in Egypt and beyond.
In 1959, Prof. Dr. Zaher Baher Abdalla founded one of Egypt's first engineering consulting firms, establishing a new benchmark in the field of sanitary engineering. Building upon the pioneering work of his father, Prof. Dr. Khaled Zaher Abdalla has been a driving force in advancing sanitary and environmental engineering. After completing his undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at Cairo University in 1981, he joined his father's consulting firm, immersing himself in significant projects that shaped Egypt's infrastructure.
Prof. Dr. Khaled earned his Master's Degree in Sanitary & Environmental Engineering from Cairo University in 1989. His pursuit of excellence led him to achieve a Doctorate in Sanitary & Environmental Engineering through a joint program between the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA, and Cairo University in 1996.
